Stop chasing comments. Your next client (probably) isn’t leaving one.
Right now every creator on LinkedIn is up in arms about the 360Brew algorithm. It’s thrown everybody for a loop. Note: It’s not new, but when LinkedIn turn the dials, the denizens of LinkedIn notice… sometimes they panic.
Even as just a consumer of your own feed, you’ve noticed things are different. Where did all this political crap come from? I blocked that. It’s back anyway.
And there are more memes. Which, hey, I like memes as much as the next guy. Silly videos too.
But a lot of the business content that was there to help people build their business? Buried.
Here’s something I learned way back when I was still getting most of my business from Facebook, so it’s been a minute:
Stop worrying about the vanity metrics.
The likes. The comments. The shares. By and large, that’s not your customer.
Whether your post gets one hundred comments or one, the question is whether you’re getting in front of the right person. Because the right person is lurking. They’re not engaging in any way. The only way you’d ever know they’re there is that they stop and read the post, or watch the video, because what you’re posting is exactly right for them.
You can’t see them, but they’re out there. They’re the ones reading. And they’re the ones who are going to become your customers.
So whether it’s the 360Brew algorithm, or the 720 Coffee, or whatever comes next, focus on writing for the people who are going to be your customers and you’re going to be okay.
It’s tough out there. Focus on your customer. Stop worrying about the vanity metrics.
