It’s not easy to get people to attend LinkedIn Events.
If you want people to attend, you have to put in the work… even when it’s a “free” event.
I get a lot of event invites, and most of them are minimum effort. Just hoping somebody out there says, “Oh good, I need another event in my life. Boy, I’d love to spend another hour listening to your pitch.”
Said nobody. At least not anymore.
Here’s the thing. Livestream events aren’t new anymore. The novelty is gone, and it’s gone forever. Now it’s somebody talking off the top of their head, and who knows what I’m getting myself into.
Nobody’s excited just because you’re going live. You need to give people a real reason to attend.
A big part of that is the title. It’s the first thing people are going to see, so it needs to draw them in. I recommend focusing on small problems, something you can visibly solve in the course of one short session.
Think you’ve got your title? Spend more time on it. The title is what people make the decision on, especially with a LinkedIn event. They see it and either think “I want to attend that” or they ignore you completely.
Once the title’s figured out, take the time to invite people from your network. LinkedIn is a little different from other webinars you might have done. Your existing network is where the attendees are going to come from.
You can send 1,000 invites a week, and LinkedIn is happy to let you send the full amount. So send them. Every week. Make it a team effort and get your whole team involved.
And here’s the thing: don’t assume people are going to remember to show up. They signed up, it’s sitting in their LinkedIn notifications, and they’re still going to forget. Remind them.
(Did I mention spending more time on that title?)
Put in the work and more people are going to watch the replay anyway. So don’t be discouraged if you don’t see a ton of people live. That number keeps going up and up as people come back to LinkedIn and see the notification that your event happened.
That’s my recommendation for getting people to attend your events.
